1. What should every person try at least once in their life?
Brent: Travel to a foreign country
Josh: Making your own pie crust
2. What brings you the greatest joy?
Brent: Doing something that makes another person happy
Josh: Giving.
3. What brings you the greatest satisfaction?
Brent: Crossing that last thing off the To-Do list
Josh: A good dinner party
4. What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Brent: On my first day of work, Martha Stewart told me “If you want to get anything done you have to be the rooster in the hen house.”
Josh: Spend as much time figuring out why something went right as you do when something goes wrong.
5. Who do you follow on Twitter?
Brent: I follow lots, but the one that gets me to click most often to go further into the story is @NYTimes
Josh: Only funny people.
6. What is on your bookshelf?
Brent: I just finished “Call Me By Your Name”
Josh: Nikki Giovanni’s “A Good Cry”
7. What charity do you support?
Brent: Our own Mortgage Lifter Project contributes 25% of the profits of many of our food items back to help other small farms. For the past 15 years we have also funded a pre-school for the nomadic goat herders in Kenya.
Josh: Ditto.
8. What is on your bucket list?
Brent: We one day hope to be successful enough that we can give each kid in our rural community the opportunity to travel around the world.
Josh: Visiting the Maldive Islands. In my head, they’re the perfect island paradise.
9. What is on your perennial to-do list?
Brent: There are always chores to do on the farm. How do weeds grow so fast?!
Josh: Cleaning out the pantry. (I can’t throw away food!)
10. What are the last three items on your credit card statement?
We only have one credit card between us, and the last 3 charges are kind of ordinary – the gas station, the pharmacy, and the dry cleaner
11. What item in your closet do you wear the most?
Brent: My red plaid flannel shirt. I wear it all the time when we are on Evine, too!
Josh: A green plaid flannel shirt that I’ve had for over 30 years.
12. Who are your heroes?
Brent: My heroes are small business owners of all types. It is really hard to build a sustainable business with honesty and integrity.
Josh: Those who give of themselves quietly.
13. Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?
Brent: Anyone who is doing some sort of job that I have never had experience with. I could spend as many hours talking to a carpenter as I could a head of state.
Josh: Eartha Kitt, Julia Child, Queen Elizabeth.
14. What is your greatest indulgence?
Brent: My greatest indulgence is going to get a massage. I only make time for it once or twice a year, but I so appreciate the power of touch.
Josh: An afternoon in my vegetable garden.
15. What is on your nightstand?
Brent: I don’t have one as they tend to get cluttered.
Josh: Dark Chocolate candy wrappers, a glass of lemon water, a cordial glass with a little bit of homemade black currant liqueur in the bottom, Alexa, and a reading lamp. (Books are stacked on the floor.)
16. What quote do you live by?
Brent: Work hard. Never quit. Help your neighbor.

17. What is the best gift you’ve ever received?
Brent: The most memorable gift of my life was a set of sculpting clay I received when I was 5 years old. I can still see the colors in my head and remember the scent of the clay so vividly. I also remember getting a chemistry set from the Sear’s catalog when I was 11 or 12. It had all of these test tubes and a book of experiments. I loved it so much I never even used it because I didn’t want mess it up.
Josh: Brent.
18. What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
Brent: I don’t actually know if I have anything that would surprise people. I’m fairly upfront with all of my imperfections and opinions, and we live life in the public eye.
Josh: I’ve lived with depression and anxiety all of my life, but have learned to treat and cope with it so that few people would ever guess.
19. What is your beauty secret?
Brent: Goat milk
Josh: Goat milk & sleep.
20. What is one thing you wish you knew when you were young?
Brent: Not to think that being in your 40s is old.
Josh: That I am braver than I ever thought I could be.
