    Hi everyone,

I haven’t been here for years! I hope you all are well. I haven’t been buying much jewelry the past few years (but I’ve been making and selling my own jewelry instead).

My Mother-In-Law gifted me a large lot of sterling jewelry last year. They were given to her by her friend, who has since died, so I can’t ask her. Some of the pieces I’ve kept, but some are rings that are way too big for me, so I am going to donate them to an animal shelter that runs a thrift shop where all the proceeds benefit the shelter, so I want to test the stones and include descriptions for them so they can price them accordingly. I have a sterling Finola (Hughes) ring. The stones test as tanzanite¬† on my gem tester (but tested as sapphire on my old tester). They seem to have a hint of purple to the blue, though. Anyway, I would like to know what the motif is. Some sort of Buddhist prayer wheel? Torah scroll (but don’t those have two rolls?)? I’ve done some searching (including google images), and can’t find anything about this design or the actual ring. I’d appreciate any help. Thanks so much!

Hi Chrome Queen! Long time no see! Welcome back!

Maybe Lady Nine will see this and have some thoughts of it – she’s the rock hound :giggle-cat: and the photo you uploaded is nice and clear :please:

It’s really nice of you to make donations to the animal shelter – animals, especially dogs IMHO, are angels!

I like your new making/selling jewelry adventure!

As for me, learning to sew and making my own clothing is high on my list. Then I can have the perfect fit :rotflmao:

    Hi there, Chrome Queen!

It’s nice to see you again!

I hope you enjoy all that lovely chrome  you did buy and are enjoying your new venture in making jewelry. :bling:

As for your ring, if you have a maker’s mark, perhaps it is best to try to contact that company for more information. Was Finola Hughes sold on QVC? If so, I’d also email their customer service and ask.

They will best be able to tell you the description or title for the ring and identify the stones. It’s hard to make a definitive identification visually. :ladywink:

To me it doesn’t quite look like a prayer ring because of the gemstones. Prayer rings usually have engraving on them. But I have not seen a ring like this, so I don’t know for sure.
