Looks like one of the things I was afraid of… from QVC/parent company’s acquisition of HSN… has happened
One of HSN’s best perks is their shipping. They offered 1/2 price shipping after the first item if you order multiples of the same item (i.e. including different color/size) or multiple items in the same category (i.e. Beauty products, Fashion products) on the same day, shipping to the same address.
I noticed this is no longer true today
Instead, I now see a lot of HSN Beauty and Fashion items at $3.00 shipping (looks just like QVC) and when I add more products to the cart … each subsequent item is an additional $3.00 shipping
This makes it less fun to shop… like today… when there’s a lot of awesome Perlier items around the clock since they’re the TS
Here’s an example screenshot of my cart with 3 pairs of DG2 jeans – before the shipping would have been something like:
1st jean’s shipping $3.95
2nd jean’s shipping $1.97
3rd jean’s shipping $1.97
TOTAL SHIPPING $7.89
Now, the total shipping is $3.00 each x 3 jeans = $9.00
That stinks!Figures that QVC would infect HSN with its shipping policies!
I once read that is where QVC makes a lot of its money because you pay to get it and then you pay to return it.
Do they not realize that after a certain point, the shipping is a deterrant to purchase, especially if you have multiple items?If they want a good idea, they should follow Gemporia: One flat fee all day. So when I order at Gemporia, I tend to order lots of items.
But you can bet I don’t at HSN or QVC unless there’s free shipping on an item. I can’t rack up 20 bucks in shipping and feel good about it.
Exactly! Right?!!! What are we supposed to do on Fashion Clearance days when ladies pick up a bunch of stuff? Possible shipping costs now –
- 4 fashion items x $3 shipping = $12 shipping!
- 6 fashion items x $3 shipping each = $18 shipping!!
- 10 fashion items x $3 shipping each = $30 shipping!!!
Shipping should NOT be a way to supplement shopping channels’ profits. That should be built into their product’s sell price.
