I saw something similar a few weeks ago when they released their financials.

That Gemporia is no longer broadcasting must mean a big bump for them. They’re the only ones besides LC who broadcast jewelry, and LC doesn’t do only jewelry.

Jewelry lovers tend to be very, very loyal to the companies they buy from, which works to JTV’s favor for increasing sales. But in my humble observation, there’s a saturation point, and then the customer buys less often. (Or, like me, from different suppliers because JTV’s prices are high versus what you actually get.) So new customers are super important. I would watch more, but I cannot stand that twangy accent of the woman they have on the majority of the time. The TV goes right off.

    I agree about saturation ;)

Now it’s back to JTV and the LC competing. When Rocks TV (Gemporia) entered the game a few years ago and became the 3rd wheel (heehee) it was quite interesting because they were different in many ways and their designs were so appealing to me that I actually became a “jewelry girl” when I was not before. It’s too bad Gemporia is currently not in a competitive state since they are available online via streaming video only and no longer broadcasting on TV.

BTW, I heard that the LC recently renamed to Shop LC.

JTV is on 24/7, so how do you expand from that?   Your right LC is now Shop LC.  They have sets now like JTV. They also have a show now where they spend a wheel for extra savings.  The wheel is 10% to 50% off the lowered price.   They had an 9 plus Ct emerald ring for $29.99 after the spin of the wheel. Can’t be that with a stick!    Also they have two ex JTV hosts.   Cheryl  Ellis which could be the best host around. I can’t believe JTV let her get away.

Hello GaryBrentburns! Wow, you are right about Shop LC. I’ve put that in another thread.

How did you like the emerald ring? JTV had reasonably priced emeralds from Zambia. I think I like them the best even though they weren’t perfectly vivid green, they were clear.

I did not have anything here to buy it with.  It was nice though.

Old Columbia Emerald is best.   I like Zambian Emerald  too.   I have bought two Moissanite pieces of Jewelry and one loose stone from JTV. I have bought more from the LC,  5 rings including a wedding set, and a necklace/pendant.  I got my two nieces the Moissanite Jewelry.

Retail sales for everyone is still down.  That is why a lot of Jewelry stores are going under. Now imagine two competing  jewelry companies go under and you still have to reduce your prices to make sales.  So, I really have wondered how JTV is really doing.   My flea market jewelry sales have really gone down over the years.  What if Trump goes back to gold standard?  Gold could get to $2500 an ounce and silver will go to $100 an ounce.  Now what does JTV do?  More Gold over bronze jewelry?  I see big problems ahead.   People wont want to pay higher prices for Jewelry.

I am a late bloomer to jewelry. When I first started watching the shopping channels and they sold so much gold jewelry… I was not interested back then. Like a lot of folks, I wish I purchased a lot of gold jewelry back then when it was considered affordable in comparison to now  :coocoo:

Gary, Is your flea market shop indoor or outdoor? We don’t have many of them in NYC; but the few we have are indoors, and not very large. I do miss them!  :please:

Oh, yes old Columbian is beautiful but way out of my price range.

I’ve bought a lot from the LC, after I stopped buying as much from JTV because of how their pricing structure changed when they bought Gems TV.

In the beginning, LC had really good quality, but my last two buys from them had such thin silver that I just stopped. If I were to buy, I would pay real close attention to the gram weights, and I’d only buy specific things I’m interested in.

Most of the highest quality/value jewelry I have came from Gemporia. They stopped broadcasting in the US, so I don’t go there as often either.

I love flea market jewelry stands. I have always wanted to go to the shows where you can see many of them under one roof.

Inside. I excel in Showcase sales with Jewelry and Knives mostly.  My secret is using every inch of space, lowest prices, using hand written signs with specials( mark up price for one, but if you buy 2 look at what you save).  I think I hold all local records in sales for showcases. I usually brought more in than people with 2 booths.  I have done booths and averaged $1000 a month in sales in most locations , but booths are not my thing really.

I think route 66 has a bunch every year and it goes for miles and miles.

Wow! That is so cool, Gary! What drew you to jewelry? Purely business reasons or personal appreciation for jewelry and gems? Knives are an interesting combo with the jewelry :teehee:

Lady Michelle, A few months ago there was a jewelry show that I don’t know why I received a mailer for and I showed up out of curiosity (it wasn’t anything special connection related). There were so much stuff I couldn’t wrap my head around it, and it was very museum-like because it was mostly estate stuff and super expensive; so I looked from afar cause those sales people could tell I wasn’t a buyer from a mile away :lol2: I totally thought of you I think you would have appreciated lots of the designs there! Will have to remember to send you info for next year!

I am a precious metals investor and Jewelry is Gold ,Silver, Platinum, or Palladium.  I have only been into Gem Stones for the past 3 years. Late to those.  I only considered Diamonds and Emeralds before that. Knives are for the guys, Jewelry for the gals.  I do sell men’s Jewelry too.

Thanks for thinking of me! I’ve never gone to one of those because I know the prices are more than I want to spend on something fun. Now if you’re looking for a special piece, that could be the way to go!

I like finding people like Gary at stands or just in kind of unexpected places. I found one at a flea market (indoor) when I was visiting my dad. I got that beautiful bracelet there at such a great price.
